We never stop learning

At EDDTC we as trainers, feel it is extremely important to learn new and exciting ways to teach obedience. Last weekend we were lucky enough to have the wonderful Rob and Jane Bint came and teach us different ways to train our dogs and for us then to then share that knowledge in our classes.

We all had areas of which we needed to work on and improve. There was a variety of breeds from Border Collies, a Wirehaired Vizsla, Working Cocker Spaniel, two Whippet crosses and two Bearded Collie crosses. The main component that Jane and Rob taught us, was to encourage our dogs to make more of an effort and to always try when they are working at an exercise. It is important to remember that even if your dog doesn't do the best heel work or the best send away, as long as they have tried their hardest, thats all that matters. For example, some dogs had trouble keeping their heads in the right position while doing heel work but they were trying their hardest to work out what they needed to do and to be consistent for us. That is what counts; that the dog is using its brain and wanting to figure out the problem to get their reward.

It was a truly fantastic weekend and we cannot wait to apply what we have all learnt, to our classes on Wednesday!
