The classes have been doing exceptionally well over the last couple of weeks! Our current Puppy Course is coming to an end and little Gem, the Shih tzu x Daschund, is still a timid lad but has come on leaps and bounds and last week was happily walking through the gate, which was a huge achievement for him as before he wouldn't even approach it. Here at EDDTC we like to tailor our classes to the dogs. Gem was so nervous that the first few lessons were just getting him confident in his new surroundings.
Clever Dogs has been worked really hard by trainer, Rob. He has been getting handlers to really push themselves by getting them to believe in themselves and in their dogs! Doing simple things like heel work off lead has allowed handlers to walk more confidently and for them to trust that their dogs are right by their side. Handler Luke and his dog Erin, have been working particularly hard and you can definitely see how much stronger their bond is. Luke's confidence in Erin and himself has grown each week and her trust in him is so strong. Well done to the both of you.
Top dogs has been blossoming with handlers and their dogs. The other week we saw handlers training their dogs to retrieve various articles such as wooden spoons, soft toys and even plastic toy dinosaurs! It is important to remember to take your dog back to basics when bringing new elements into their training. Make it enjoyable and positive and don't put too much pressure on your dog (or yourself)!
This week we have our Annual General Meeting! Puppy class will be on as normal, 8pm-8.30pm but then no other classes as our meeting will be taking place. Please come along and join us with any topics or ideas you'd like to talk about.
Finally, we hope everyones doggies enjoyed the snow! Here are just a couple of our dogs having fun.
