Hot Dog
As you are all aware, the temperatures have certainly been warm recently and if you are struggling, imagine how our four-legged companions must be feeling.
Unfortunately, there are too many stories in the news about dogs struggling in this heat due to irresponsible owners. Here are a few tips to help keep your pooches safe in this weather.
* Walk you dog early in the morning and/or in the evening when temperatures are cooler and the pavements won't burn their paws.
* Make sure you dogs has constant access to shade and cool water.
* If you have a particularly hairy dog, keep them regularly groomed and apply a damp towel to their under belly.
* Freeze toys and filled Kongs to keep them enriched when not able to walk them.
* Dogs with thin fur or exposed skin, apply sun lotion to avoid being burnt.
* Dogs cannot sweat. Providing a paddling pool or even a washing-up bowl for them to walk through or paddle in will help them cool off.
* Please DO NOT leave your dog in the car!! You may only be gone for "a couple of minutes" but thats all it can take for your dog to overheat.
