Competition Night!
What a night!
Thank you to all who turned up and had a go at our competition evening. It was a great atmosphere with plenty of laughs and supporting one another. We had two classes; one for dogs who could retrieve and one for those who couldn't. The classes were judged by one of our trainers and qualified judges, Sue Abraham and stewarded by our head trainer, Kathy Case.
First up we had our dogs who couldn't retrieve and what a high standard they set. The class involved heel work on lead, a recall, heel work off lead followed by a one minute sit or down stay. Each handler and dog did a fantastic job! The winners if the class were Diane and her BC, Riddick. Following that were Carl and Dolton, Jen and Storm, Luke and Erin, Gale and Quinn, Victoria and Gem and Brian and Kilo.
Next up we had our dogs who could retrieve. Each dog and handler did absolutely brilliant. The class included heel work on lead, a recall, heel work off lead, a retrieve and then a one minute sit stay and two minute down stay. The winners of the class were Diane and her BC Hobbit. They were followed by Jen and Mullberry, Rob and Hazard, Jackie and Elsa, Brian and Bravo, Judy and Jaycee and Martin and Lulu.
Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to Kathy and Sue for taking the classes. It was a brilliant opportunity for everyone to practice what a real competition ring would involve and to work their dogs under the specific conditions such as not using treats or toys within the ring. Sue was also very good at telling everyone what they needed to work on in the future such as their footwork or where their dog struggled.
We are already looking forward to the next one.
